Workshop
Yep, with a name like bikelab you would hope we fix bikes, right? Well we do and we do a damn good job, so much so that when DIRT magazine wanted to make a technical instruction video, they chose us. When Mercedes Benz appointed a sole U.K. technical partner for their bike range, it was us. So we don't like to brag but we're pretty good with the old spanners.
Even though we sell some pretty exotic bikes we're not snobs in the workshop, we'll work on anything. We would however appreciate it if you could book it in in advance and not bring it in covered in poop (unless you are booked in for a service with full clean and degrease).
Our mechanics are fully trained to the highest industry standards. And then we train them some more. We can carry out anything from the simplest of repairs such as a punctured tyre to a complete strip down and rebuild if required.
We do some whizzy stuff that many other shops don't such as suspension tuning and disc brake servicing and our workshop is only equipped with the latest and greatest equipment. We build great wheels too - we even have a fancy spoke tension meter.
If you cycle regularly (daily commuting or a few times a week for leisure) then you really need to be getting your bike serviced twice a year; if you are riding less frequently then one good service a year should do it.
We charge £49.99 for our Level 2 bike service which takes about an hour. It includes inspecting and adjusting for optimum function the following areas:
- frame and forks
- transmission
- braking system
- wheels and tyres
- cockpit and seating area
Full suspension bikes are priced at £10 more as we have to check more bits, of course. If the fork/shock needs servicing then this can be carried out at an additional charge which depends on the make and model of the unit. Single speed bikes are priced at £10 less.
We charge £20 more than the Level 2 for, you guessed it, a Level 1 service. The extra cost goes to a full clean, degrease and re-lube and also an ergonomic check where we cast an eye over the position of bars, levers and saddle.
For all other jobs or complete strip down and rebuilds we charge by the hour as each bike is so different.
We'll take on any job on any bike so whatever you need just get the bike into us for a free quote.
