Édouard Louis Joseph (Eddy) was a professional cyclist from 1961 to 1978. Cycling fans consider him to be the most successful cyclist in history, with 525 competitions to his name. In 2000, the French magazine Vélo called him the ‘greatest cyclist ever’ and many sports journalist refer to him as the cycling god.
Eddy started building bikes 30 years ago and the bikes that bear his name are very special indeed.
He is obsessively involved with every step of the development of the range and it shows in the attention to detail that he was famous for when winning 5 Tour De France and 5 Giro (Tour of Italy) titles, and that is represented perfectly in this full carbon fibre frameset piloted by one of the best racing teams on the circuit, Quick Step.

Used by pro tour team Quick Step riders and offered here in the official team colours the EMX 5 is handcrafted from high modulus 3k carbon fibre, and uses the Merckx Elite geometry for an aggressive, performance orientated riding position.
The bike is perfectly at home out in front the pro peloton under the power of a breakaway specialist such as Sylvain Chavanel, but due to it's national roots is also adept and handling less than perfect road conditions, such as the punishing Belgian Pavé or just a rutted and neglected British B-Road.

Elite Geometry
Elite geometry frames have been designed for competition. Each form, element and accessory is there for a reason, namely greater maneuverability and sportier, more aggressive performance.
Redesigned Carbon Technology Seat Stays
The wishbone seat stays have been redesigned with a slightly curved construction, as a result there is greater lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. Strong riders and sprinters will benefit from the extra lateral rigidity while comfort has been taken to a higher level.
Replaceable Aluminium Vertical Dropouts
The combination of a carbon rear triangle with replaceable aluminium vertical dropouts brings the best of both worlds together - the lightness you expect from a top level racing bike with the strength to resist a crash or rear derailleur failure.
Oversized Bottom Bracket
The massive bottom bracket guarantees the best possible power transfer, so every watt you put on the pedals is transformed into forward motion.
Tapered Oversized Headtube
The oversized, tapered head tube makes the front end much stiffer so the bike handles better and steers with extreme precision. The oversized lower bearings also help dampen the vibrations coming from the front wheel.
Aerodynamic Design
Both the front fork and the seat stays are aerodynamically designed to allow the bike to cut through the air more efficiently.
