The low 14H/16H spoke count provides great aerodynamics and stiffness for powering through the straights and over the rollers.
Hubset: The TdF38 rims are laced to the TdF4.4 proprietary hub, designed and manufactured in the USA. The front hub has a unique 85mm wide flange placement which increases the lateral wheel stiffness by nearly 20%. The rear hub features our Patented Differential Flange Diameter, which doubles the number of pulling spokes and creates a more durable wheel. Both hubs are fully CNC machined and feature oversized axles, increasing the wheel durability and stiffness without increasing the wheel weight.
Freehubs: CNC machined Titanium freehub body has 3 independently sprung steel pawls for a bomb-proof torque transfer system. This system is strong, simple and dependable.
Rims: Designed and reinforced for the low spoke count (14H Front, 16H Rear) and high spoke tensions, this proprietary carbon fibre rim unites what we have learned over years of testing to create the definitive minimalist wheel that is exceedingly light and surprisingly stiff. Brake sidewalls are impregnated with fiberglass for improved braking performance and durability. Not to be mistaken for a one-trick-pony, the TdF38 is more aero than other wheels in its class.
Spoke & nipple: The TdF38 wheel set features paired, 14 gauge custom bladed spokes with internal alloy nipples with nylon inserts to create a quicker accelerating, faster climbing wheel with superior, long-term durability. Self-locking thread technology ensures wheels stay true longer. Our Patented, Jacketed Nipple Design™ reduces spoke bending loads and wind drag, increasing spoke life and contributing to a more durable, stiff and aerodynamic wheel system.

These wheels are ‘tubulars’ which means they require a specific tubular or ‘tub’ tyre which is either glued or stuck onto the rim with double sided ‘tub tape’. Tubulars are lighter than clincher wheels and roll faster, are more comfortable, corner better, can run at higher pressures and do not suffer from ‘pinch flats’.
So why doesn’t everyone use them? Well they are normally wary that if they puncture they may be stuck by the side of the road but with new products on the market that mean that you don’t have to replace the tub but you can seal it, tubs are making a big comeback.
